PFC James J. Arellano, Cheyenne, Wyoming

Unit:  1st Battalion, 67th Armored Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.  Age:  19
August 17, 2006

Incident:  PFC James J. Arellano died in Baghdad of injuries suffered when his patrol encountered enemy forces using IEDs and small-arms fire.

SSG Brian Daniel Bland, Newcastle, Wyoming

Unit:  1st Battalion - 3rd Marine Regiment - 3rd Marine Division - 3rd MEF, Marine Corps Base, Hawaii.  Age:  26
January 26, 2005

Incident:  SSG Bland died when the CH-53E helicopter he was in crashed near Ar Rutbah, Iraq. Hernandez was assigned to Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 361, Marine Aircraft Group 16, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Calif. The others were assigned to 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Corps Base Hawaii.

Lance Corporal Kyle W. Burns, Laramie, Wyoming - Unit:  1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, California.  Age:  20
November 11, 2004

Incident:  Lance Corporal Kyle W. Burns died as a result of enemy action in Al Anbar Province, Iraq.

SPC Jason Corbett, Casper, WY.  Unit: 1st Bm, 501st Parachute Infantry Reg, 4th BCT, 25th Infantry Division, Ft Richardson, AK. Age 23
January 15, 2007. 
 

Incident:  Killed when his unit came in contact with enemy force using small arms fire during combat operations in Karmah.

Incident:  SPC Edmunds died while riding as a passenger in a Blackhawk helicopter that crashed - Operation Enduring Freedom.

Incident:  Killed when a suicide bomber detonated an explosive device in Baghdad.

Incident:  SSG Long died from injuries sustained from a roadside blast in Baghdad.

Incident:  Cpt. Lucero died and another soldier was injured when they were struck by an improvised explosive device in Tikrit, Iraq.

Private First Class Joseph Mayek, Rock Springs, Wyoming.  Unit:  C Company, 2nd Battalion, 6th Infantry Regiment, Baumholder, Germany.  Age:  20

Incident:  Mayek died after being struck by an AP round that was discharged from an M2 Bradley vehicle - Iraqi Freedom.

Incident:  Lt. Col. Charles E. Munier died at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington, D.C., from a non-combat related cause that occurred on June 5, in Kabul, Afghanistan.

July 30, 2003. 

Incident:  Lt. Nott died of wounds received from hostile fire July 30 in Belaruz, Iraq.

Incident: Killed while protecting a convoy in Ramadi.  Lt. Cpl. Phelps is listed in  Faces of Freedom for Wyoming.  Chance Phelps was featured in HBO film starring Kevin Bacon Taking Chance, February 21, 2009 premiere.

Incident:  Jacob Allen Ross died supporting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan.
